dvaipayana hrada

in which water hole
did panicked duryodhana
hid himself?

By Kulamarva Balakrishna

Vienna,Sunday,January 20,2008:A few months
ago I saw on a website, to which I was guided
by Wikipedia that Mahabharata´s villain,
Duryodhana hid himself in Haryana near
Kurukshetra in a tank called =sannihit sarovar=.
I wrote a note there saying the name must be
something like Vaishampayana but need to be
checked in Mahabharata. Now I found the
occasion to check. It should be Dvaipayana, a
place with a mini-island.It could be the same
island where Krishna Dvaipayana was born
to Kali alias Yojanagandhi, alias Satyavati,
the queen of Shantanu and grand mother of
Kauravas and Padavas. He was the alleged
author of Mahabharata itself by the famous
name of Ved Vyasa. These details I give
because, just a few hundred year old Hindus
or to begin with Hindoos, who now get their
education from Anant Pai´s =Amarachitra
katha=,Donald Duck type cartoons on Hinduism,
should be made aware they do know nuts
about their several thousand years old
=sanatana dharma=.

First =sannihit sarovar=: It is not a name of
identity.In Sanskrit it means =a close lake=
=sannihit= meaning close,=sarovar= meaning
lake, nothing more.So the website owners do not
I repeat do not know their subject.According
to Mahabharata´s =hrada pravesh parva=
included in the larger chapter =shalya parva=
the name of the whirl pool is =dvaipayana=.
The name is repeated three times in the text.
Now the place =dvaipayana= was not in
the now missing=sarasvati= river as claimed.
It was in Kalindi/Yamuna river.I take two names
because the rivers are tributaries to Ganga.
Duryodhana also known as Suyodhana
ran away at sunset from Kurukshetra after
being defeated. He witnessed his great
adviser uncle Saubala Shakuni being slain.
After that he lost his vehicle, driver and arms.
He got panicked. As he ran he was followed
by guruputra, my great great great grandfather
Ashvaththama, Kripa and Bhoja Kritavarma.
They held consultations before Duryodhana
dipped in the magically silenced whirl hole.
Hunters/shikars who had been thirsty for
overheard them.They reported about the
location to Pandava Yudhisthira to get
=bakshis=.

It is normal in India to trace every foot print
to the past gossips/ithihasa of several
thousand years old only to get a status of
pilgrimage or whatever for that place. The
idea is to make tourist promotion, grab cash.
The picture shown on the site including the
tank could be less than 50 years old.So in
our southern Kannada language the apt
description of the site is =bogalhe=,empty
barking without reason.For information
on =so called ten percent Kamasutra
illustration in Indian temple precints=,
I write a separate piece for the benefit of
many unknown =aarti nadkarnis= beholden
Hindu Jagruti racket.(end)
