yoga mindfulness (9)

no suppression
or miracles

By Kulamarva Balakrishna

(questions are welcome)
Vienna,Monday,January 14,2008:When the mind
is stilled by suppression, that is made of empty of
all substances that means we drive out the existing
mind itself. This is the status of dead end,as it is
not natural nirvana or moksha. It is not meant. In
a status where human body has no role whatever,
in other words it is death. When =tanu= body, has
been abandoned, there is then no boss,=drashta=
the viewer in the body.Without him is death which
is not meant by yoga. This is for clarity, that =nirodha=
is not suppression but guidance for focusing the
mind stuff on reality within and outside.Besides, the
mind is put in a continuous status of awareness
where the awareness is in constant contact with
the awareness in the environment in general. This
contact is then yoga of mindfulness.

Similarly =svarupe=,in one´s own =form=is not visible
illustration of the =antaratma=,soul.Soul is made
visible only by the body.Without body there is no
visibility for life. This is being pointed out in order to
avoid mis-comprehension.Make no mistake there
are no miracles made or intended by practicing yoga.
In fact,in the third book of 56 sutras called as =vibhuti=
pada, certain mental sparks if we may so, are experienced.
They are no magic or miracles. It is made clear there
as Patanjali goes on describing the unfoldment of
the mind into a new state of awareness. It is a kind of
restfulness of the mind not meant as medicine, magic
or miracles whatever.

The boss guides the mercurial mind by containing
it gently into a steady awareness that the individual
human life is part and parcel of the universal life
to remain bound to it and at peace in happiness.
With this awareness in background, mind can and
should engage in lively activities that are part of life
itself. The next sutra, the fourth says the unguided mind
presents our lives just as mundane routine placing
them on par with other living beings. It is said =ahara=,
food,=nidra=,sleep,=bhaya=, fear,=mauthunam=,
love making, =cha= etc are common to man and
animal. =dharma=,a Buddhist word for discriminative
quality of mind is one thing that makes humans
special. The three word sutra reads:=vritti sarupyam
itaratra=.Itaratra,elsewhere,yoga less life is meant,
presents itself as just activities, indicative of mental
modifications described by traditional commentators.
These modifications are five tiers. One way to say
pure fivers, and inpure fivers,or with pleasant or
unpleasant consequences.(end)
