professors on pilgrimage

do americans repent
and apologize?

By Kulamarva Balakrishna

Vienna,Tuesday,January 8,2008: Iranian Mehr News
reports on the planned visit of a group of Columbia
University Professors,without approval of their
University President Lee Bollinger to Iran, ostensibly
to apologize to Iranian President Muhammed
Ahmadinejad, who was unjustly treated by Bollinger
when he visited the campus in September taking the
opportunity of his visit to the United Nations.Winfield
Myers of the Campus Watch, confirming the visit feels
humliated at the thought. He says =it would be another
shameful chapter in the history of middle eastern studies
at the Columbia University.

Winfield Myers thinks after the nasty behavior to his
guest in consideration to the political compulsions of
President George Bush, does Lee Bollinger or any one
in his behalf apologize to a supposed =enemy= President?
Not done.=It is a further evidence of intellectual
and
moral collapse= says Myers. The Iranian Mehr
News does not identify the visiting professors.

Text of the report:

New York:An academic delegation of Columbian University
professors and deans of faculties plan to visit Iran to officially
apologize to Iranian President Muhamud Ahmadinejad.
The delegation plans to express regret for insulting remarks
Columbia University President Lee Bollinger directed
Muhamud Ahmadinejad on September 24 the Mehr News

Agency Correspondent in New York reported.Since the
incident, the deans and professors from faculties of
history,anthropology,and Islamic studies have criticized
Bollinger´s behavior toward Ahmadinejad.A member of
the delegation, who requested not to be identified, said
the main goal of the visit is to meet the Iranian president
and =officially apologize= to him.
"The delegation has also prepared its itinerary," he noted.
He went on to say that the delegation also plans to visit
Iranian universities in various cities and to hold talks
with professors and students, and may even sign
memorandum of understandings with some universities.
He also said the delegation is interested in visiting
seminaries and the shrine city of
Qom ( not on pilgrimage).
However, Bollinger has warned the delegation that
their trip to Iran should be a private visit and should
not be undertaken as an official visit endorsed by
the university.
Bollinger has so far refused to meet the Mehr News
Agency correspondent to explain his disrespectful
behavior toward Ahmadinejad when introducing
him to the students and professors at Columbia.

End text:

I am rather surprised at the contradictory wording
of the report.Or the visit should be taken as private
but apology as =official=!I am aware Mr.American
can fall face down on all fours before the =enemy=
feet but hold his nose upwards.wah re wah! I am
also aware President George Bush clasped hands,
and walked hand in hand with one gawd man vote
democrat and Custodian of Holy Places King Abdullah
as the guest came calling! The photos were all over
newspapers and the websites world wide!It was that
democratic gawd King, who pardoned the rape victim
Shia teenage girl from Qatif being punished by 200
whiplashes under Islamic Law!How warm his hand
was, after all he came from sand land arid desert.
