Vienna,Thursday, February 14,2008: I am sorry
to learn, K.S.Suparna,former Deputy General
Manager of The Press Trust of India, passed
away in Bangalore this morning after a week´s
illness. He was suffering from Pulmonary fibrosis.
I feel I lost a brother. When we were in Bombay,
I was always the guest of his mother and wife for
Sundays. Before his marriage we shared a
room in front Liberty Cinema, which we nicknamed
as Jasville Republic we were no less than twenty
journalists accommodated there. At our free times
we played cards,we went some times on Marathon
walks like once we walked from Kings Circle to Flora
Fountain with in a hour.Juhu to Andheri Versova
walks were just routine.

Suparna is survived by wife, Sharada, daughters
Smriti and Sandhya and grand children. His brother,
K.S.Ram Kumar, who is a special correspondent
of Jeddah based pan Arab =arab news= daily
is now in Bangalore with his wife Vijaya.

Suparna was 79.Only a couple of years ago he
had visited me at my Padubidri garden house with
Sharada, sister Nagaratna and sister-in-law
Vijaya.Together we went to the famous Kollur
Mookambika temple. On the way, he was astonished
to see cashew fruit. I had persuaded the villagers
to give us some.We also paid a visits to Udupi,
and one thousand pillar Jain Mandir at Moodabidri.

Suparna´s father, the late K.S.Bharadwaj was
the General Manager of the Servant´s of India
Society´s The Hitvada daily, which had employed
Krishna Menon as its London Correspondent
during the pre-independence days.(end)
